if asked what i ever want for my birthday or for anything, my mind would be boggled between a few things... happiness, wisdom and the fear of God... i must say i really have started to admire this guy by the name of Eric Liddell... he is truely a man of God... in the bible there is this verse that goes " he (refering to God) who honours me I will honour"... and this was verse was clearly shown in the life or eric liddell...
eric was a top sprinter in the 100m and 200m... in the year of 1923, he ran in the 400m or 200m (cant remember)olympics and fell at the half way mark... there he sat till someone asked him to get up... when he did get up, he ran and slowly he regained his third position 20m from the line... and well the rest was history... he won that race... really a historic win it was... an impossible feat by any human standards...
then again in the year of 1924, he decided to take part in the 100m and 200m however, the heats fell on a sunday... because of this, he decided to skip it all together as it was the day of the Lord... and so he decided to take part in the 400ms... it wasnt his forte at all and this caused a stir in the media... well basically to cut things short, on the day of his race, he ran and ran with all his might and he broke a new world record...
and as what he says, he feels the glory and presence of God as he runs... and surely that day at the 1924 olympics, God was with him...
